On 25 April 2018 Facing History and Ourselves held its annual gala benefit at the Westin Copley Place Hotel. The event had the theme: Justice and Diversity. At the center of the event was Jessica Lander's course in the Social Studies Department, "Seminar in American Diversity." Students from LHS, recent LHS alumni, and parents attended. Ms. Lander and two recent LHS graduates – Onotse Omoyeni and Carla Duran – spoke, along with Massachusetts AG Maura Healy.
The first year of LHS' Seminar in American Diversity produced the book Defining Diversity was both a centerpiece of the entry hall, but also was a gift to all of the sponsors and donors to Facing History.
