The mission of our department is to prepare students equally for college, career, and civic life. We emphasize real-world application of what we teach. We work to promote sound critical thinking; the ability to analyze information in order to build social sciences awareness and knowledge; and, good citizenship in both local and global communities. We work in constructive and substantial ways with our educational neighbors and partners: the University of Massachusetts at Lowell, Middlesex Community College, Generation Citizen, and the Tsongas Industrial History Center. Our department has hosted dozens of student teachers over the years. And, most importantly, we are proud to work with the most diverse student body in the United States to prepare the next generation of productive, responsible citizens for the City of Lowell and beyond.
