Presentation & Performance by Rev. Robert B. Jones, Sr. during Black History Month
Event sponsored by the LHS Black Unity Club and the Standing Committee on Cultural Competency*
*Cindy Obika and Yvette Cheeks, working with the Black Unity Club and Standing Committee on Cultural Competency, brought Rev. Jones to LHS and organized the day. Head of School Brian Martin enthusiastically embraced the event. Amy McLeod, Director of Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment, paved the way for this to be a part of our school’s curriculum during Black History Month, which allowed for students in several dozen classes to participate. Dr. Sharon Clark handled technical issues for the event. Bryan Wilkins filmed the event and edited it in post-production.
- Melissa Lemayian and Joanne Njihia spoke about Black History Month and introduced Rev. Jones;
- Members of the Black Unity Club also participated in a special reception and were able to talk with Rev. Jones about his work, as well as what makes LHS exceptional;
- David Diaz, a student journalist with the LHS Review, covered the event and has posted his article and photos at the LHS Review website: thelhsreview.com.
